Ignite USA is debuting a new opening pricepoint line of thermal travel mugs under its Contigo brand at the International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago. The line, called Byron, features new lid functionality for the company, called SnapSeal.
“Consumers shopping for travel mugs under $15 make up a significant portion of travel mug purchasers at some of the major retailers,” Todd Starr, vp/ marketing and product development for Contigo, told HOMEWORLD BUSINESS® in a recent interview.
“We’re excited to expand our offering with a product that really offers consumers superior features at a competitive pricepoint,” Starr said.
The SnapSeal line features a lid that is said to be “leak proof” and designed for quick cleaning. The SnapSeal mechanism can be operated using one hand. To use, consumers push the SnapSeal tab on the back of the lid up with their index finger, opening a reservoir to access the mug’s contents. After drinking is complete, the user snaps the SnapSeal tab down to seal the lid again. An audible “click” is said to assure users that the lid is completely sealed.
“Contigo has a fiercely loyal following and the vast majority of our customers have more than one Contigo product in their home,” asserted Starr. “The SnapSeal lid system is going to let us share the innovation and quality of Contigo products with a whole new segment of travel mug users. We want to spread the word that, regardless of your budget, you really can get a mug that performs well and eliminates leaks.”
Contigo’s Byron SnapSeal mugs, available now, have a suggested retail price range of $7.99 to $12.99.
