NY Now Announces Best New Product Award Winners

Four companies were named Gourmet Housewares Best New Product Award Winners today in connection with the Winter 2014 edition of NY Now, the Market For Home + Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF). These four honorees are also eligible for NY Now’s “Best of the Home” Award, which will be determined by online balloting.

Lifetime Brands received “Best of Show” honors for its Savora Colander.

Awards were also presented for three product-specific categories: cooking (cookware, bakeware and electronics); dining (serveware, bar/wine accessories, picnic/barbecue accessories and specialty foods); and kitchen preparation (kitchen gadgets, kitchen textiles, cook books and storage/containers). Winners and finalists in each category were selected by a panel of eight trade editors based on innovative design; creative use of materials/construction; and use of new materials/ technology.

“This product category is crowded with quality and innovation, but these companies in particular set a higher standard in product design and performance,” said Marc Delman, national sales manager at tabletop + gourmet housewares.

The cookware category winner was Zoku for its Zoku Ice Ball. Finalists were Charmeur, LLC for its Chocolate Making Kit and Uniware Housewares Corp for its Ecolon Ceramic Coated Cookware.

The dining category winner was Sparq Home for its Dining set of four Vodka Shooters with Caddy. Finalists were International Innovation Co./Vacu Vin for its Dining Strap Wine Thermometer and The French Farm for its six Stainless Steel Steak Knives in Wooden Block.

For the kitchen preparation category, Aquaovo won for its ovopur. Finalists included Natural OliveWood for its Rustic Cutting Board and Picnic Time for its Parlor Ice Cream Mixing Set.

The Best New Product Award judges were: Faith Durand, thekitchn.com; Sharon Franke, Good Housekeeping; Joanne Friedrick, Gourmet Business; Laurie O’Halloran, Home Style; Duke Ratliff, HFN; Amy Stavis, Tableware Today; and Anna Wolfe, The Gourmet Retailer.
