Adesso president and CEO, Peggy Traub, died yesterday. She founded Adesso with business partner, Lee Schaak, in 1994.
Adesso mourned Traub, who passed after a long battle with cancer, as a great innovator, leader and friend, and said she had valiantly struggled with the disease. She was 55 years old.
In addition to establishing the lighting company, Traub co-founded WithIt, Women in the Home Industries Today, a national trade organization that serves the needs of professional women in the home furnishings industry, Adesso pointed out in a statement. She also was a member of the Women Presidents’ Organization, the Women’s Leadership Board at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, the Committee of 200, and the advisory board of KIDS, Kids in Distressed Situations.
Peggy Traub is the daughter of Marvin Traub, former president and CEO of Bloomingdale’s, who died in 2012.
Traub earned a B.A. from Harvard University and resided in Brooklyn Heights with her partner Phyllis Dicker. Together they have sponsored the Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship for several years. The organization annually awards scholarship funds to worthy college students.
