QVC previewed housewares it will be merchandising for the holiday gift-giving season— some of which will begin airing as early as this month— at a recent press event.
One gift-giving idea that the retailer will be promoting is buying sets, and using the product for multiple gift-giving opportunities, said Kaila Conti, publicity coordinator for QVC. “A lot of our things come in sets; you don’t have to give someone the whole set, you can buy it and break it up and give gifts out to multiple people,” she added.
Conti added that another trend in gift giving for the kitchen is color: “Color is a big trend. If you add colorful accessories to a plain kitchen, it makes everything pop, and you can have fun playing with it.”
QVC host Alberti Popaj added that the color trend is especially prevalent in items that used to be “just plain black,” such as can openers. Adding color gives these everyday, functional items gift appeal that you normally wouldn’t think about, added QVC host Courtney Cason. For example, QVC previewed Kuhn Rikon’s set of three polka dot can openers, which come with gift boxes. Color is also a popular element in QVC’s kitchen electrics assortment.
