Ross Stores is making a point of its 2014 expansion plans. The company has announced that it will continue to build presence in existing markets and grow in the newer markets initially entered in 2011.
The retailers recently opened 30 of its Ross Dress for Less stores and seven dd’s Discounts locations in 14 different states, it pointed out.
“We remain on track to open a total of approximately 95 new locations in 2014, comprised of about 75 Ross Dress for Less and 20 dd’s Discounts,” said Jim Fassio, president and chief development officer. “Today, Ross Dress for Less is the largest off-price apparel and home fashion chain in the U.S. Including these newest openings, Ross now operates 1,173 stores in 33 states, the District of Columbia and Guam. Long term, we believe Ross can ultimately reach 2,000 locations, and continue to look for growth opportunities across all of our existing markets. Further, the planned expansion of dd’s Discounts in 2014 marks the fourth consecutive year of double-digit percentage unit growth, as we continue to believe that dd’s can become a 500-store chain over time.”
Ross operates about 130 dd’s locations in addition to the 1,173 Ross stores.
