Today, Stein Mart, Inc. posted a total sales gain of 7.3%, to $112.2 million, for the five-week period ended October 5, with comparable store sales up 5%.
According to the company, on a geographic basis, September sales were strongest in Florida, the Southeast and California. The Midwest and Northeast performed below the chain-wide average, it stated.
Stein Mart announced that it had open three stores over the past few weeks, with one store each debuting in Buford, GA, El Paso, TX, and Elk Grove, CA. In addition, the company relocated one store in Colorado Springs, CO. At the end of September, Stein Mart operated 263 stores versus 261 stores at the same time last year.
