Walgreen Partners To Boost Clinic Operations In Orlando

As part of its effort to more closely link its operations to provision of medical services, Walgreens has partnered with Orlando Health, a comprehensive not-for-profit health care organization, on a clinical collaboration. The initiative will provide coordinated and expanded health care services, while improving patient access to convenient and affordable quality care throughout Central Florida via Walgreen operated clinics, the retailer reported.

Collaboration will include:

  • Greater access to care via Healthcare Clinics at select Walgreens that will offer evening and weekend hours, easy-access locations and online appointment scheduling.
  • Care coordination for Orlando Health patients using Healthcare Clinic providers for acute, chronic and preventive services.
  • Communication between Orlando Health physicians and Healthcare Clinic nurse practitioners to facilitate care coordination and patient information sharing.
  • Enhancement of awareness about Orlando Health and Healthcare Clinic services, including routine screening, monitoring and immunizations among potential patients.

In addition to healthcare services fees, Walgreens can count on additional store visits, with ensuing pharmacy and non-prescription health care product sales, from clinic patients.

“In today’s health care landscape, these types of innovative coordinated care programs are vitally important to help ensure patients have access to the quality care they need,” said Jeffrey Kang, M.D., Walgreens senior vp/health and wellness services and solutions. “With our expansive retail footprint, diverse portfolio of health care assets and proven success in collaborating with others in the medical community, Walgreens is uniquely positioned to bridge critical gaps in care and improve patient outcomes, furthering our mission to help patients get, stay and live well.”
