Artisan House Co-Founder Freiler Passes

Kurt Freiler, a founding partner of metal sculpture designer and crafter Artisan House has passed away at the age of 103. His death follows the 2007 passing of Artisan House co-founder, Jerry Fels at the age of 90, the company noted.

Freiler, who had the manufacturing expertise, and Fels, an artist, met in the 1940 and partnered to launch Artisan House in 1964. Freiler and Fels also developed the corporate signature of C. Jeré, which is found on all authentic Artisan House sculptures. The signature, the company noted, has become synonymous with classic designs and fine craftsmanship, and is recognized as the benchmark brand in fine metal wall décor.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Kurt. Both he and Jerry were trailblazers, trendsetters, and leaders in the world of metal art design,” John Shilling, president of Artisan House, noted. “While the originators of Artisan House are no longer with us, we will continue to develop and grow the company that they worked so hard to create.”
