The new design and technology of the Blueair Sense air cleaner prompted its nomination as one of 35 finalists for the 2012 Swedish Design Award, known as “Design S.” The product made the cut from a field of 220 contenders.
The Blueair Sense, which is currently being launched in China, Taiwan and the United States, was designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune, an architecture and design studio, and features an interactive motion-sensitive tempered glass top, allowing users to change air-cleaning speed with simple, gentle hand movements just above the scratchproof surface.
Sweden’s national design award singles out creative and innovative solutions in a range of products, services and environments, and recognizes both the designers and companies. Each individual entry is assessed based on the problems faced by companies and organizations, the end solution and how design expertise contributed to the result.
In related news, earlier this month, the Blueair Sense won a top international design award. The air cleaner won the Japan Institute of Design Promotion’s 2012 G-mark Good Design Award.
