Conair Corp. has announced a voluntary recall of Infiniti Pro hair dryers, 259 and 279 series. Recalled units have one screw hole on the back of the handle while those with two screw holes on back of the handle are not subject to the recall, it related.
The company asserted that consumers should be informed to stop using the recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Conair acknowledged that it has notified the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission of the voluntary recall, an action that involves about 570,000 units.
The company noted that the small heater coils in the barrel of the hair dryer can come into contact with adjacent coils and create an electrical short. The short can project small hot coils out of the dryer, posing a burn or fire hazard. Conair stated that it has received approximately 19 consumer reports of hot coils exiting the hair dryer, including minor property damage and three minor burn injuries to consumers who sought medical attention.
