Louis Fortunoff, a former executive of the Fortunoff department store, died Saturday of pancreatic cancer in Long Island, NY. He was 47.
The son of Helene and the late Alan Fortunoff, Louis Fortunoff held roles in operations, finance, public relations and merchandising, before the family sold the business in 2005.
Louis Fortunoff in the 1990s led development of The Source shopping center at Fortunoff’s Westbury, NY, flagship and a large Fortunoff store in White Plains, NY.
As a certified investment manager, he managed the family’s investment portfolio.
An active philanthropist, Louis Fortunoff was honored by the Housewares Charity Foundation in 2004. He oversaw the Fortunoff Holocaust Archive at Yale University, established by Alan Fortunoff while Louis attended the school.
