GLM’s Artisan Resource Grows To 100+ Companies For Summer 2013

George Little Management has announced 100% growth for Artisan Resource, a first-of-its-kind market offering United States-based volume importers, direct import retailers and wholesalers the opportunity to meet with international artisanal producers, the company said. The third semi-annual edition of Artisan Resource will showcase approximately 100 companies this summer from Sunday, August 18, through Tuesday, August 20, at Passenger Ship Terminal’s Pier 94, coinciding with the August NY NOW show.

“Since the winter 2013 market, Artisan Resource has doubled in size,” said Allison Rober, Artisan Resource sales manager. “We’re still in talks with several additional countries, so we’ll likely see even more growth before the summer 2013 market opens on August 18.”  Artisan Resource is presented semi-annually in conjunction with NY NOW, the Market for Home & Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF).

Companies from 24 countries, the largest international representation in the history of Artisan Resource, will exhibit in the summer 2013 market.

Seven countries will feature multiple companies in Artisan Resource as part of government-sponsored pavilions. While both Ecuador and Guatemala are returning to the show after participating in the summer 2012 edition, other government-sponsored countries are first-time participants, including Colombia, Peru, South Africa, Tunisia and Vietnam. Three additional countries— Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines— are expected to bring international delegations to the summer 2013 show.

There are also seven countries brand-new to the market: Cameroon, Japan, Palestine, Panama, Tunisia, Uganda and Uzbekistan. Returning countries include Afghanistan, Bolivia, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Haiti, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Africa and Vietnam.

To date, more than 100 companies, all of which have been selected for their experience in meeting export demands and commitment to design innovation, cultural preservation, social enterprise and sustainability, have confirmed their participation in the August 2013 edition of Artisan Resource.
