HSN previewed key products it will spotlight for the holiday season at a press event in New York on Wednesday, indicating that entertaining at home, man caves, safety and anything that makes smart phones and tablets easy to use will be hot for the fourth quarter selling season. Single-serve coffee will remain important as well, and novelty will certainly continue generating sales.
The multi-channel retailer is offering a wide range of home entertainment accessories from slice-and-serve cutting boards from Wolfgang Puck to a decanter formed around a crystal globe.
Much of the man cave selection at the preview was licensed Coca-Cola product including glassware, a clock and a dartboard cabinet. Safety-oriented products include a range of emergency-preparedness items including a storage battery that supports electrical items in power failures, including one that features emergency lighting.
Items supporting smartphone and tablet sales ranged widely— as is true of the broader marketplace where everything from end tables to small electrical appliances mount, store or charge the devices. Tablet and phone cases have added housewares functionality as well, such as a Case Mate Phone Cover that incorporates a retractable bottle opener.
In the fourth quarter, novelty counts too, particularly as regards impulse purchases. HSN will fill the bill with such items as the David’s Cookies Cookie Jar mug and a dog-shaped mug that sports a removable head that comes off for drinking and returns to keep beverages like coffee warm. In the coffee sphere, HSN also will feature a single-serve loose coffeemaker from Bella, which produces a quick cup of coffee inexpensively.
