Hudson’s Bay Co., operator of a namesake department store chain in Canada and Lord & Taylor in the United States, is boosting its bridal operation. The company is launching the Canadian flagship of renowned bridal retailer Kleinfeld Bridal in its Toronto Queen Street Hudson’s Bay store, the company announced.
With exclusive rights to the brand in Canada, Hudson’s Bay said it will open the 20,000-square foot Toronto Kleinfeld flagship in early 2014. The operation will offer bridal consultants and the scope and breadth of designer gowns available at Kleinfeld’s New York Store, it added.
Hudson’s Bay operates the top Canadian bridal registry already, the company asserted, so the new Toronto Kleinfeld Bridal flagship bolsters the retailer’s market position. Soon, Canadian brides may shop the Kleinfeld addition to the current Hudson’s Bay line of gifts, home and lifestyle products, making the retailer a more attractive destination, the company noted.
“This is a thrilling day for our team at Kleinfeld,” says Ronald Rothstein, co-owner of Kleinfeld Bridal. “We are the largest luxury bridal retailer in the world and look forward to bringing the finest selection of exclusive designer wedding gowns to Hudson’s Bay.”
Bonnie Brooks, president, Hudson’s Bay Co., said, “Bringing Kleinfeld to Canada further supports our overall product differentiation strategy for Hudson’s Bay, which is to deliver new, relevant and exclusive brands and concepts to the marketplace. This incredible partnership will further our position as Canada’s headquarters and leading destination for gift registry, and now for designer bridal wear. Hudson’s Bay is proud to provide what will be the only full-service bridal destination, offering brides and their wedding parties a full selection of fashion, jewelry, gifts and more.”
In addition to the department stores, Hudson’s Bay operates specialty retailers Home Outfitters in Canada and Lord & Taylor Home in the United States.
