A new website, which will offer tools and resources for materials suppliers, package development professionals and packagers looking to make environmentally responsible business decisions is set to debut in fourth quarter 2008.

Greenerpackage.com, which is being developed by Summit Publishing, publishers of Packaging World, will host a continuously updated directory of the latest sustainable packaging materials, an interactive forum that will be moderated by industry experts, a news blog, and a sustainable packaging awards database, which will allow packagers to submit and learn from progress made by colleagues and competitors, according to the company. Packages that have made significant progress toward sustainability will be eligible for the Greener Package Awards competition, slated to be introduced in the fourth quarter of 2009.

"This new site offers an excellent opportunity to combine our resources and those of the packaging community into a focused, interactive resource for advancing environmentally responsible packaging,” said Joel Angel, Packaging World’s publisher.
