Sambonet Paderno Industrie S.P.A., an Italian manufacturer of tabletop and kitchen accessories, announced it acquired German porcelain and tabletop company Rosenthal.
According to a Sambonet statement, the acquisition allows Sambonet to expand its current product portfolio, which includes such brands as Sambonet, Paderno and Arthur Krupp, with additional luxury brands, including Rosenthal, Thomas and Hutschenreuther. According to Sambonet, the consolidation will combine the expertise of Sambonet in the hotel industry and the traditional strength of Rosenthal in the retail market.
"Sambonet can use Rosenthal's exisiting retail stores and can also take advantage of the well developed distribution network of Rosenthal in the international retail trade," said Sambonet Chairman Pierluigi Coppo. "Both Sambonet and Rosenthal are focused on design and innovation, on quality products and consumer care...the objective is to become the point of reference worldwide for tabletop and kitchen accessories for both the home and hotels.”
Glenn De Stefano, president of Rosenthal USA, said in a statement, "This is a very exciting time for Rosenthal and a prime opportunity to establish the prominence of Rosenthal as the leader in innovative, design driven, stylish and functional tabletop, stemware and decorative accessories. The Sambonet and Rosenthal brands are a perfect complement to gain further market share in the United States."
Sambonet reported it intends to maintain all Rosenthal production facilities and invest in the company to grow the brand's market share.
