The New York International Gift Fair has announced the winners of its Best New Product Awards at The Gourmet Housewares Show, with Joseph Joseph receiving Best of Show honors for its Triscale. Awards also were presented in three product-specific categories: Cooking, Dining and Kitchen Preparation. Winners and finalists in each category were selected by a panel of editors based on innovative design, creative use of materials/construction and use of new materials/technology. “The second annual sold-out Gourmet Housewares Show provided the judges with a teeming selection of innovative products deserving recognition,” said Marc Delman, national sales manager, Gourmet Housewares Show. “The selected products stood out from others for a high level of purposeful design.” In addition to Best of Show, in the Cooking category, Key Ingredient took the award for its Recipe Reader, a kitchen-safe, electronic resource with access to more than 1.5 million recipes online. Finalists were SPARQ Home for the SPARQ Griddle and DKB Household USA for its Ken Hom Mini Wok. In the Dining category, Ginsey Home Solutions was awarded top honors for its Freeform Tray, a place setting that is transformed to a tray when picked up. Runners-up were Soireehome for its Tilt chilling sphere and Rush3 Product Design Studio for its Kebo one-handed bottle opener. Molecule-R Flavors Inc. took the top Kitchen Preparation honors for its Cuisine R-EVOLUTION. The molecular gastronomy kit that features a set of molecular kitchen tools, DVD with recipes and five natural texturing agents that can be used to desconstruct any dish using gelification, emulsification or spherification techniques. Also honored in the Kitchen Preparation category were finalists Bar10der for its 10-in-1 bar tool and Sagaform for its oversized cheese grater.
