Keeping the house clean and fresh was a theme of the International Home + Housewares Association Affordable Innovation press event. The event was held at the New York Hilton Wednesday. Among the new products showcased was the Fresh Wave Crystal Design Collection from OMI Industries. An update on the basic packaging of the company’s original air freshener, the Design Collection features a decorative refillable container that looks attractive in any space. The product comes with 18-ounces of fresh wave Crystal Gels that can clean odors in a room for 60 to 90 days depending upon the air flow. A 64-ounce Crystal Gel refill package is available to maintain the air cleaning action at a $39.99 SRP. Quickie Manufacturing Corp. brought four new products to the event. The Steam Mop is designed as a simple cleaning tool with a single nob that is ready to use right out of the box. SRP is $39. The Tub ‘n Tile Scrubber has a spinning head and adjusts for close up work or extends for tough to reach surfaces. SRP also is $39. The Landscapers Broom has hard bristles that can handle gravel or construction waste. SRP is $10. And the Spill Collector does double duty as a dustpan and, with its squeegee, a wet mess cleaner. SRP also is $10. Skoy Cloth is a reusable, eco-friendly replacement for paper towels and sponges. It can be composted, as it is made of natural cotton and wood-based cellulose pulp, and it is chlorine free as well. As a substitute for paper towels, it lasts as long as 15 rolls and has an absorption factor of 15 times its own weight, Skoy Enterprises stated. A Skoy Cloth 4-pack comes at a $6.99 retail.
