Alessi, the Italian kitchen and housewares company, has announced that four of its products took honors in the 2012 Good Design awards. The products sited were the company's Ape Aperitif Set by Giulio Iacchetti, Floating Earth Tray by Ma Yan Song, Ming Tray by Zhang Ke from the (Un)forbidden City collection and Lumière table lamp with Flame and Abatjour LED bulbs designed by Giovanni Alessi Anghini and Gabriele Chiave for the Alessi Lux collection. Founded in Chicago in 1950, "Good Design bestows international recognition upon the world's most prominent designers and manufacturers for advancing new, visionary and innovative product concepts, invention and originality, and for stretching the envelope beyond what is considered ordinary product and consumer design," according to an Alessi press release. “Alessi is honored to be recognized with four 2012 Good Design Awards,” said Paolo Cravedi, managing director of Alessi USA. "We would like to thank the designers for such exciting and original projects and the Chicago Athenaeum for recognizing the creativity and innovative spirit of Alessi.”
