Bocian will report directly to Robert Edwards, Safeway's president.
Before his Safeway appointment, Bocian was executive vp and head of corporate services and finance at JPMorgan Chase. While at the financial firm, he had overall responsibility for global real estate, procurement, technology and real estate finance and general services for the firm.
Prior to his JPMorgan Chase tenure, Bocian spent three years as executive vp and chief administrative officer at Hewlett-Packard after spending over a year as CFO and chief administrative officer at Starbucks, Safeway noted.
