Cost Plus World Market is launching a sweepstakes building off the Disney release of the movie “Oz The Great and Powerful.” A goal of the promotion is to focus consumer attention on the company’s tabletop serving pieces, home décor and furniture items as potential purchases associated with the Academy Awards and the events surrounding it, the retailer indicated in previewing the sweepstakes. In an announcement today, Cost Plus stated that movie fans recognize that Hollywood’s most glamorous night is less than a week away and pointed out that World Market offers affordable tabletop serving pieces, furniture and home décor items as well as gourmet food and wine that can enhance Academy Award viewing parties. The retailer also pointed out that “Oz The Great and Powerful” is set to release on March 8. The related sweepstakes continues through March 15. One sweepstakes grand prize winner gets a private movie screening that can include up to 50 guests, free IMAX movie tickets for a year and a $1,000 World Market gift card.
