Smith’s Consumer Products, Inc. has announced its intent to acquire the Fire Wire brand of grilling tools including the Fire Wire Flexible Grilling Skewer. The acquisition is expected to close within the next two weeks. Smith’s currently sells knife sharpeners and kitchen tools under the Smith’s and Edgeware brands. “We are pleased to announce the addition of the Fire Wire products to our product offering. These innovative grilling tools have earned a place in homes across the world,” said Dan Glidden, CEO of Smith’s Consumer Products, Inc. “As we continue to expand our business, we are always looking to add product lines that fit with our core business. Fire Wire is a natural fit with applications in the housewares, hardware and sporting goods retail channels. We are excited about the possibilities to innovate in this new and interesting category.” The Fire Wire line offers a number of grilling accessories in addition to the flexible grilling skewer, as well as a variety of display options for specialty retailers including an interactive BBQ grill.
