The United States Environmental Protection Agency has recognized Sears Holdings with a 2013 Energy Star Partner of the Year- Sustained Excellence Award for its efforts to protect the environment through energy efficiency. The agency is recognizing Sears both for its role as a retailer of Energy Star certified products and for energy management in its stores, the company said. Sears has been an Energy Star partner since 1998 and has won recognition for long-term commitment to energy efficiency, according to the company. Sears has initiated energy management across its building portfolio as it has enhanced associate and consumer education to drive awareness and adoption of energy efficiency and climate protection, the company noted.
