Ahold USA has announced that it appointed Jan van Dam executive vp/supply chain and e-commerce. In his role, van Dam will report directly to James McCann, Ahold USA COO, and will transition into his new Carlisle, PA-based assignment in April.

The company said van Dam would focus on leading a supply chain organization supporting Ahold USA and its four divisions, Stop & Shop New England, Stop & Shop New York Metro, Giant Landover and Giant Carlisle. In addition to supply chain, van Dam also will supervise Ahold USA’s e-commerce business, with Peapod president and general manager Andrew Parkinson reporting to him.

Van Dam most recently served as president and CEO of
Albert/Hypernova, Ahold’s supermarket business in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Prior to that, he served as General Manager of Etos, Ahold’s drugstore operation in the Netherlands, and in leadership positions at Albert Heijn, Ahold’s supermarket business in the Netherlands.

“Jan will add valuable retail expertise to Ahold USA’s leadership team,” McCann said. “Jan’s responsibility over the e-commerce side of our business also will enable us to accelerate its expansion and maximize supply chain synergies across Ahold USA and Peapod.”
