At the International Home + Housewares Show this week, Cuisinart is offering the first public showing of its new single-serve espresso makers, put together in partnership with illy, a leading Italian coffee supplier. The new line, dubbed Buona Tazza or “good cup,” encompasses a good, better, best selection of automatic coffee centers, each utilizing illy’s iperEspresso capsules.
At the top of the new line is model EM-500, which offers 19 bars of pressure, eight LED controls for Short, Long, Manual, Steam Cappuccino, Latte, Hot and Extra Hot settings and a removable 34-ounce water reservoir.
“Our EM-500 has several patented and patent pending features including a removable milk container, that allows the consumer to brew perfect latte or cappuccino without having to move the cup,” said Mary Rodgers, director of marketing communications for Cuisinart & Waring. “What that means is the consumer can brew directly into the frothed milk.”
The new brewer, which hits a $599 suggested retail, comes with 14 illy iperEsspresso capsules, a two-year limited warranty and a storage container into which used capsules are automatically ejected.
The other two models in the line, the EM-300 and EM-350 do not come with the integrated milk container but offer many of the same espresso functions.
