Komin Lightweight Cast Iron Cookware

Williams-Sonoma, Inc. has introduced Komin, a light cast-iron cookware collection created with Japanese industrial designer Komin Yamada exclusively for the retailer. According to Williams-Sonoma, the new cookware is made from a ductile iron, a flexible but strong version of cast iron that is up to 50% lighter than traditional cast iron but offers the same even heating capabilities of the heavier material.

The retailer is currently offering Komin in three key cookware pieces: a 9.5-inch diameter fry pan, a 10-inch diameter grill pan and a 5-quart capacity Dutch Oven with lid, which weighs 4 pounds, 6 ounces. All pieces are made with a non-reactive black matte silicon coating, and are induction ready. The Dutch oven and grill pan feature extra wide handles for easy gripping, even with oven mitts. The Dutch oven lid can also double as a trivet or a strainer.

Retail prices for Komin cookware are $79.95, $89.95 and $199.95 for the frypan, grill pan and Dutch oven, respectively.
