Hearth Patio & Barbecue Association Partners With Operation BBQ Relief

Friday September 27th, 2013 - 2:25PM

The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (HPBA) has announced an official partnership with Operation BBQ Relief, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation founded in 2011 in response to relief efforts in tornado-stricken Joplin, Missouri.

In the wake of that destruction, competition barbecue teams from eight states answered the call to help feed displaced families and emergency personnel. The group served over 120,000 barbecue meals in less than two weeks with help from businesses who contributed food and supplies and people from across the country who donated cash. As a result of efforts in Joplin, Operation BBQ Relief was born and has since served nearly 500,000 barbecue meals to victims of natural disasters in the U.S.

“I couldn’t be more pleased that our board of directors unanimously voted to support Operation BBQ Relief as HPBA’s charity of choice,” said Jack Goldman, president and CEO of HPBA. “Operation Barbecue Relief’s humanitarian efforts are inspiring and a true testament to how people can use their unique talents and expertise to bring relief and compassion to those in need.”

With this partnership comes financial support from HPBA as well as several awareness opportunities to help Operation BBQ Relief gain volunteers and secure donations from industry leaders and barbecue enthusiasts.
