Meyer Corporation, U.S. has announced that Mitchell Loring, formerly evp/sourced products, will succeed Robert (Bob) A. Rae as president of the company, following Rae’s announcement that he is retiring. In addition, Phil Barberi has been promoted to vp/product development.
Rae formed a partnership with Stanley Cheng, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Meyer Corporation, U.S., in 1986, creating a new cookware company, Le Cook’s-ware. That company’s first brand was Circulon followed by Anolon two years later. Eventually, Le Cook’s-ware merged with Meyer Corporation, U.S., where Rae oversaw product design and development for all brands within Meyer’s portfolio.
Rae worked closely with Cheng in building what was to become the second largest cookware company in the world. In 1996, Rae moved back to California as president of Meyer Corporation, U.S. Under the leadership of Cheng and Rae, along with a skilled management team, Meyer Corp., U.S. became the largest cookware company in America, according to the company. In his 27-year career at Meyer, Rae was awarded over 50 design patents.
“All of us are extremely proud of Bob’s immeasurable contributions and accomplishments during his career at Meyer, and without question he will be missed greatly, not only by everyone here, but also within the wider housewares industry,” Cheng said. “It’s been a genuine honor and pleasure to have befriended and worked alongside Bob for more than 27 years, and we wish him and his wife, Doralee, all the very best in the next junction of their life together.”
Succeeding Rae as president of Meyer, Loring will lead the company’s corporate and product strategies. Loring’s direct reports include managing director, Jay Zilinskas, and vp/product development, Phil Barberi. Loring reports to Cheng.
Loring started with Meyer in 1988 as regional manager/East Coast and has held numerous managerial and senior leadership positions throughout his career with the company, including: national sales manager, vp/sales, svp/sourced product and, most recently, evp/sourced product.
Loring’s leadership skills have been pivotal in the growth of the company’s sourced products portfolio, which now encompasses a wide range of categories, such as bakeware, teakettles, cutlery, kitchenware accessories, tabletop, and baking accessories, the company said.

In his new role as vp/product development, Barberi is responsible for all cookware product development for the company and will be the point of connection with the designers and technical staff at Meyer’s foreign affiliates, who propose and create the products. Barberi joined Meyer Corporation, U.S. in 2000 as western regional sales manager/Farberware division. Phil was promoted to senior director/product sourcing in April 2007.
