Friedrich Air Conditioning Company recently donated room air conditioners to aid a rural school in Bement, IL, after a late season heat wave. Children in this rural community have air-conditioned classrooms for the first time since the schoolhouse was constructed in 1899, noted the company.
A late-season heat wave forced the Bement Community Unit School District No. 5 to dismiss classes early during the first week of school, when temperatures inside the brick building soared into the 90s. Friedrich shipped the free air conditioners to Illinois to offer the elementary school children some relief from the heat, and volunteers have since installed the eight room air conditioners at the school. The Friedrich room air conditioners will be used in classrooms that serve elementary school children.
