Sophie Conran and Portmeirion showcased Conran’s new non-stick ceramic coated cast aluminum cookware line at this month’s Tabletop Market, in New York.
The Sophie Conran Cookware Collection features organic shapes that are designed for stovetop to tabletop use. “Perfect for casual entertaining, each piece nicely complements and reflects the design of our Sophie Conran dinnerware and glassware collections," said Wendy Motlaq, corporate vp for Portmeirion Group.
The ceramic non-stick coating on the Sophie Conran Cookware Collection is free from plastics, PTFE and PFOA, and will not emit harmful fumes and toxins if accidentally overheated. It is scratch resistant, easy to clean, and has effective non-stick properties that make the Sophie Conran collection ideal for low-fat and low-oil cooking techniques, according to Portmeirion.
Each piece in the Cookware Collection features a cast aluminum body with integrated handles and a heavy gauge base said to eliminate hot spots, offer quick heat transfer and heat retention to cook food evenly. The products can be used with any heat source including induction (with an additional stainless steel disc) and are oven-safe to 390° F, the company said. Tempered glass lids with polished stainless steel rims are included as well.
Available in two colors— black and white— and three sizes, a medium 8-inch casserole, large 9.5-inch casserole and shallow 12-inch casserole, suggested retail prices range from $120.00 to $160.00 each. The Sophie Conran for Portmeirion Cookware Collection is the winner of the 2013 'Excellence in Cookware' award from the Excellence in Housewares Awards.
