The Home Depot was recognized with a SmartWay Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as an industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency. The Home Depot demonstrated top environmental performance by effectively hauling all freight with environmentally and energy efficient SmartWay carriers, the retailer noted.
"We’re honored to be recognized by SmartWay for our efforts, and welcome this opportunity to reinforce our continued commitment at The Home Depot to serve as leaders in the freight industry as we all work towards more environmentally and energy efficient operations," said Michelle Livingstone, vp/transportation at The Home Depot.
The Home Depot was one of 55 companies to receive this distinction, representing the best environmental performers of SmartWay’s 3,000-plus partners. The award winners were honored at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals annual conference held in Denver, Colorado.
