Rite Aid Gains Momentum In November, Boosting Quarter

For the 13-week period ended November 30, Rite Aid Corp. posted a comparable store sales increase of 2.3% versus the prior-year period. Front-end comps, including general merchandise such as home goods, decreased 0.2% while pharmacy comps gained 3.5%, the company reported.

Total drugstore sales in the quarter increased 1.9% to $6.33 billion. Prescription revenues represented 68.6% of total drugstore sales, Rite Aid maintained. 

For the five weeks ended November 30, comps increased 2.8% over the prior-year period. November front-end comps advanced 0.4% while pharmacy comps increased 3.9%.

Total drugstore sales in November increased 1.6% to $2.43 billion verses the 2012 month, Rite Aid noted. Prescription sales accounted for 68.1% of drugstore sales, it added.
