Shopko has announced that it will open two new Hometown stores, one each in in Mayville, WI, and Valentine, NB. The company stated that the stores will open in spring 2014.
Shopko operates the Hometown retail format to serve the needs of smaller rural communities, the company noted, by combining retail health services with an assortment of national brands and high-value private label brands merchandise across the apparel, home furnishings, toy, consumer electronics, seasonal, every day consumable and lawn and garden product segments. The design established for the format provides shoppers with an attractive, well laid out, easy-to-shop store environment, Shopko maintained.
"We're excited to bring Shopko Hometown to these great communities," said Peter McMahon, Shopko CEO. "We understand that consumers in smaller towns are looking for the same variety of high-quality goods and trend-right merchandise that can be found in larger cities. Customers of our Hometown stores tell us they appreciate the vastly improved shopping experience and access to a broad, differentiated selection of merchandise, including products and brands previously not available in their community."
Shopko operates approximately 180 Shopko Hometown stores. The Mayville and Valentine stores will weight in at about 36,000 square feet.
