Times Square ‘Super’ Setting For Innovative Design

Monday November 25th, 2013 - 9:54AM

Times Square amplifies its unofficial title as center of the universe this time of year, starting with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and culminating with the dropping of the ball on New Year’s Eve.

Those are just appetizers this season, though, for the big bash along Broadway set to lead up to the first Super Bowl in the New York City area on February 2.

The real action kicks off two days later, when Times Square will serve as the bustling backdrop for the conclusion of another big competition— the 2014 Housewares Design Awards.

Marketing Muscle

The 11th annual Housewares Design Awards are to be presented February 4 at the New York Marriott Marquis hotel overlooking Times Square, the hotel’s 10th straight year as host of the awards gala.

For companies behind the 65 finalists selected by an independent judging panel from hundreds of entries earlier this month (see story on page 1, November 25, 2013, issue), increased retail marketing muscle and consumer exposure that comes with a Housewares Design Award is the ultimate prize for their ingenuity.

The Housewares Design Awards media team is already at work on behalf of the finalists by connecting regional and national press to stories about the products and companies contending for Best in Category awards to be presented February 4. More than 2,000 print and digital articles featuring the Housewares Design Awards have reached a combined consumer audience of more than 387 million.

Global Coverage

The annual Housewares Design Awards ceremony, which showcases a special exhibit of finalists, has been attended by media outlets covering a wide spectrum of global news and lifestyle titles: Wall Street Journal, NBC News, Good Morning America, O, the Oprah Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Bridal Guide, Better Homes & Gardens, House Beautiful and more.

So even before the winners are announced in New York City, award finalists can and should declare a sizeable victory in making it this far. They are encouraged to help spread the word on their achievements, raising their respective marketing profiles while helping to validate the housewares industry’s steadfast effort to design more style, performance and value into its products.

Crowning Winners

HomeWorld Business presents the 2014 Housewares Design Awards with the support of sponsorship by NY Now: The Market for Home & Lifestyle (February 1-6 at New York’s Javits Center), non-stick coating specialist Whitford Corporation and Gourmet Insider magazine.
