Best Buy Co., Inc. has announced the appointment of Tommy Millner, Cabela's Inc. president and CEO, to its board of directors, with his success at combining store and online retailing stated as a reason for his appointment. Millner assumed his Cabela's responsibilities in April 2009 after spending 10 years as Remington Arms Co., Inc., CEO.
Millner joined the Best Buy board on January 13, the company noted, adding that he will stand for ratification at the retailer’s annual shareholder meeting in June.
"Tommy is a well-regarded CEO who has successfully transitioned his organization from a traditional retailer to one that is highly respected as an effective omnichannel player," said Hatim Tyabji, Best Buy board chairman. "Best Buy is on the same journey, and Tommy's insights will, no doubt, be valuable as the company looks to even better serve its customers wherever and however they want."
