Fred & Friends Dust Bunny Mitt Displayed With Its Dinner Winner Set At IHA Preview

The International Home + Housewares Show preview event for the press went on in New York yesterday despite snow and cold conditions, offering products focused on a variety of target markets. Among the demographic contingents on the mind of suppliers at the International Housewares Association was children.

Products set to serve the children's market included Fred & Friends Dinner Winner, a divided melamine plate that turns meals into a board game: As they eat each portion of food, kids can move a game piece along a trail to the finish and victory.

Also featured, Zoku Fish Pops, a mold set that produces popsicles in the form of a shark, clownfish, whale, pufferfish and scuba diver. Finish the treat and the remaining stem is in the form of a fish skeleton. In addition, the Opinel Le Petit Chef set offers a knife and peeler with a safety ring built in to keeps little digits away from cutting surfaces, along with separate finger guard to protect the hand that holds what's being processed.

Scandinavian Child LLC had, as the name implies, a particular focus on kids that was expressed across product segments with items such as the Duux Voice Activated Projector, a nightlight that also beams a starry effect on the ceiling and even plays soft lullaby music.

Some products suited children and children of all ages including the Wastepaper Basketball basket, which comes with a Spaulding license and a backboard, and the Fred & Friends Dust Bunny Microfiber Dusting Mitt

The Dust Bunny mitt is among those products that, potentially, could help get kids to help around the house. Of course, housewares producers have been developing cooking, craft and other products that create an opportunity for children and parents to spend time together. The Hamilton Beach 4-Quart Collapsible Ice Cream Maker, for example, could certainly provide sufficient reward to generate juvenile involvement, as could the Kuhn Rikon Pocket Maker set, which produces dough-enfolded meals and desserts. The PopSome Cake Decorating Set, from International Innovation Co., holds sprinkles and like garnishments for large and small baked treats with the kind of colorful design that makes tasks more fun.
