In the aftermath of its merger with OfficeMax, Office Depot, Inc. has appointed Troy Rice as executive vp/retail, effective April 14, it announced. He replaces Juan Guerrero and will serve as a member of Office Depot’s leadership team, reporting directly to Roland Smith, the company's chairman and CEO.
Rice was executive vp/stores and services at Toys“R”Us, Office Depot related, responsible for all aspects of store operations at namesake and Babies“R”Us operations, including integrated store strategy. He also supervised operations for FAO Schwarz and seasonal stores. Before that, Rice spent 16 years at Home Depot, rising to the position of president, northern division.
"Troy is an accomplished executive who has focused his career on improving operational performance and the customer experience in multi-unit retail stores,” Smith said, in announcing Rice's appointment. “His 20-plus years of experience in retail operations and his omnichannel orientation will enable him to make immediate and significant contributions to a number of Office Depot’s 2014 critical priorities.”
