Tapping into the trend of smart home product development, Jarden Consumer Solutions has integrated smart technologies into select home environment appliances. The smart home portfolio integrates Belkin’s WeMo Smart Platform into home comfort appliances from Holmes. The new initiative also includes other kitchen electrics from Crock-Pot and Mr. Coffee.

Jarden noted that consumer demand for increased connectivity and control over their households, including remotely via wireless app using a smartphone or tablet, has driven the development of technology that is now being implemented into everyday housewares to create smarter products that provide seamless, personalized options as well as more energy efficient functions and robust customer service and support.

The Holmes Smart Console Heater, enabled by WeMo, allows the user to control the portable heater remotely using a smartphone or tablet, such as setting temperatures and scheduling and adjusting the thermostat. Two infrared heaters, a 1,500- and 1,000-watt model, are available in the line. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the heaters with WeMo ranges from $149.99 to $199.99.

The same level of connectivity and control drives the Holmes Smart Humidifier Console, enabled by WeMo. The suggested retail price of the Holmes smart humidifier console is $199.99. Rounding out the new assortment is the Holmes Smart Air Purifier, enabled by WeMo, which has a suggested retail price of $189.99.

The Holmes home environment assortment enabled by WeMo will launch this year in the early fourth quarter.
