Quickie is entering the electric cleaning tools business with the introduction of the company’s first steam mop as well as the rollout of a handheld cordless scrubber. Both products represent the first major expansion outside the stick goods category since the company was acquired by Jarden Corp. in 2010.
In making its move into steam cleaning, Quickie has taken aim at the value segment of the category.
“We identified a hole in the market where most of the incumbents are offering products priced around $75 and above that added a lot of features,” said Scott Harper vp/marketing at Quickie Manufacturing. “We saw a need for a simple, functioning tool around $40 that delivered affordable cleaning.”
The new Quickie steam mop, to be marketed under the company’s Home Pro sub-brand, features a stainless steel handle, 30-second heat-up time and an articulated head that enables it to get flat to the floor for cleaning under furniture. It comes with two microfiber pads and has a top-mounted water tank for easier refilling.
