Macy’s, Inc. has announced senior executive changes including the retirement of Thomas Cole as the company’s chief administrative officer. After a 41-year career with Macy’s, Inc. and its predecessor companies, he will remain with the company through May as it effects the executive team changes.
The changes include, as detailed by Macy’s:
William Allen has joined Macy’s as chief human resources officer. He had been senior vp, AP Moller-Maersk A/S. Allen will supervise Macy’s, Inc.’s human resources, diversity strategies, and corporate communications as well as the external affairs and law functions. He joins the Macy’s executive committee and reports to Terry Lundgren, chairman, president and CEO.
Robert Harrison assumes the newly created role of chief omnichannel officer, reporting to Lundgren. He was Macy’s executive vp/omnichannel strategy. In addition to his existing role managing the development of strategies to integrate the company’s stores, online and mobile elements, Harrison will assume responsibility for systems and technology, logistics and related operations. He also will join the company’s executive committee.
Karen Hoguet, Macy’s, Inc. CFO, will assume additional responsibility for credit and customer services, real estate, non-merchandise purchasing and sustainability. All of the company’s finance and accounting functions report to Hoguet, and she will have administrative responsibility for the internal audit function. Hoguet already is a member of the Macy’s executive committee and continues reporting to Lundgren.
Peter Sachse, Macy’s chief stores officer, will assume added responsibility for store planning, design and construction. The company’s nationwide portfolio of Macy’s stores, as well as the region, district and central stores organization and visual merchandising, will continue reporting to Sachse. He, too, is a member of the Macy’s executive committee and reports to Lundgren.

While we wish Tom continued health and happiness in the next chapter of his life, I am confident in knowing that ours is a better and stronger company today because of his exceptional work over the past four decades.”
