For September, Rite Aid Corp. reported a comparable store sales increase of 1.9% over last year’s month. September front-end comps, covering home goods and other general merchandise categories, decreased 0.5%, the company reported.
Pharmacy comps, which included an approximate 100 basis points negative impact from new generic introductions, increased 3.1%, the company stated.
In the four-week period, total drugstore sales increased 1.9% to $1.94 billion, Rite Aid noted. Prescription sales accounted for 68.7% of total sales, the company added.
As of September 28, Rite Aid operated 4,603 stores versus 4,639 stores in the month a year ago, the company related.
