Soleus Air has posted a stop-sale notice to retailers and distributors on its website in regards to certain dehumidifier models manufactured by Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai. The dehumidifiers shipped from MJC America or Gree USA.
The company has reported that it has received consumer reports of dehumidifier units overheating, emitting smoke or catching fire. The company also noted that it is currently investigating the issue in cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The company reported that manufacture of potentially affected dehumidifier units occurred during the period of 2010 to 2012 and distribution was under either the Soleus Air or Kenmore brands in 25-pint, 30-pint, 45-pint, 50-pint and 70-pint sizes.
The notice from Soleus Air advises retailers to remove the units from stores and stop sale of the listed dehumidifier models. The full notice includes a list of dehumidifier units by model number and batch number, which can be found on Soleusair.com.
The company further noted that returned dehumidifier units should continue to Stericycle ExpertRECALL, Event #7277, 4350 Sam Jones Expressway, Indianapolis, IN 46241. Those seeking information can phone Stericycle ExpertRECALL at 866-853-2802 for shipping assistance. The company also advised that in the event that consumers return potentially affected dehumidifiers for any reason, receivers should not dispose of or destroy them but should contact Stericyle for shipping and logistics information.
“The safety of consumers is our highest priority,” the company’s statement concluded.
