Personal care appliances is a product segment that Staples, Inc. is pushing for the holidays. In a campaign leading up to Thanksgiving weekend, Staples is promising what the retailer calls Black Friday savings all week, a pledge that includes discounts on technology, televisions and holiday essentials such as wrapping and shipping products from Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery, as well as personal care products incorporated in the featured Health & Fitness category.
The campaign also promises free shipping on Staples.com beginning November 18.
The personal care lineup does include ancillary products such as Sony Clip Style Headphones and Garmin GPS watches, but at its core, it’s about monitoring exercise and general health conditions. Products available include Fibit Zip Activities Trackers, Withings Blood Pressure Monitors and Salter Scales.
Clearly, one goal of Staples holiday promotion, besides that basic one of moving lots of product, is to encourage consumers to think of it as source for more than just office supplies. The retailer underlines the point by including TVs, Home Entertainment & Gaming, Headphones & Speakers, Software & PC Games, and Apps & Accessories alongside Health & Fitness in the Holiday Center it has positioned as the online anchor of its promotional campaign.
“Staples is making it easy for our customers to unwrap unbelievable savings this holiday season,” said Alison Corcoran, senior vp/retail marketing, Staples, in announcing the holiday promotion program. “Whether you shop in-store or online, Staples carries all the must-have gifts from e-readers to ultrabooks for everyone on your list.”
