Vegas Doubles Down On Macy’s Projects

Macy’s, Inc. will showcase fashions for the home and for women, men and children at a two-level, 180,000-square-foot store at the Shops at Summerlin, a new shopping venue in west Las Vegas developed by The Howard Hughes Corp. The Summerlin project is one of two designed to enhance the retailer’s presence in the Las Vegas market.

Summerlin will be Macy’s first new full-line store introduction in the Las Vegas market since 1996. Macy’s expects to debut the operation in fall 2014, with Summerlin construction beginning in fall 2013. Macy’s will be an anchor of the 1.5 million-square-foot development that will feature more than 125 stores and restaurants and, so, create a vibrant, walkable urban core for the west Las Vegas community, Macy’s stated.

In another Sin City move, Macy’s will expand its presence in the successful Fashion Show Mall on South Las Vegas Boulevard with a new two-level, 105,000-square-foot Macy’s Men’s Store, it said. Macy’s has slated the store to open in spring 2013. The retailer already operates a full-line 201,000 square foot store in the mall.
