After having introduced its first holiday initiative in September, before summer officially ended, Walmart has announced that it is getting a jump on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The retailer stated that it is launching an early cyber event featuring discounts on select items typically reserved for major holiday post-Thanksgiving promotions.
Walmart also is offering its broadest free shipping program ever to help customers save even more this holiday season, the company asserted.
Online customers can access price rollbacks beginning shortly after midnight Pacific Daylight Time on Nov.1 on brand-name electronics and home goods while quantities last, Walmart stated, adding that the company would rollout more than 300 early-bird specials at exclusive prices on Walmart.com. There, customers can learn about Walmart’s holiday deals through the season by signing up for promotional emails, liking Walmart on Facebook or downloading the retailer’s mobile app.
“We know that our customers start shopping for the holidays on Nov. 1 because historically our traffic spikes the day after Halloween,” said Joel Anderson, Walmart.com president and CEO. “Customers want to relax with friends and family during the holidays, and with our early deals, we are helping them make the most of their time and helping them stretch their dollars further.”
In the online initiative, Walmart.com shoppers can purchase a JVC 42-inch LED TV for $299 and a 10-inch XELIO tablet for $49, discounts that deliver Walmart.com’s lowest-ever prices on a 10-inch tablet and a 42-inch TV, the company asserted. Other discounts include a SodaStream Fizz Home Soda Maker Starter Kit for $59 down from $79, a Dyson DC33 Multi-Floor Bagless Vacuum for $299, and a Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor in red for $45.98.
Walmart ‘s logistics offering includes free shipping for orders over $50 on nearly 99% of Walmart.com’s assortment, the company related, noting also that the delivery deal triples the number of items that customers can order online and pick up in-store the same day to 70,000 items.
Walmart’s mobile customers can expect access to their neighborhood circulars, rollback items and a store map to facilitate local store shopping. Mobile accounted for 40% of Walmart.com holiday traffic last year, a metric the retailer intends to boost this holiday season, it stated.
In mid-September, Walmart initiated its holiday lay-away program.
