Whitford Corp. has hired Tom Hmiel as its new regulatory manager, covering all of Whitford’s markets. He brings more than 25 years of experience in regulatory affairs in the chemical industry to his new role at the company.
Most recently, Hmiel was chief product steward for Cytec’s engineered materials and formulated resins businesses. In that role, he coordinated compliance with global product regulatory requirements, supporting manufacturing in the US, Europe and Asia, while serving a global customer base in aerospace, automotive, filtration and electronic component markets.
Hmiel also previously served in both product regulatory and manufacturing environment health and safety roles with BASF Corporation within the NAFTA region.
His experience with global regulations includes a role as a former industry leader of the American Chemistry Council Air issue team; FDA medical-device and food-contact compliance; TSCA new substance notifications and chemical data reporting; management of REACH registration and authorization; as well as hazardous materials transport regulations.
