NY NOW, the Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift, produced by Emerald Expositions at the Javits Convention Center in New York City, will feature more than 2,300 exhibitors at its winter 2018 edition. The show features products across three comprehensive collections— HOME, LIFESTYLE, and HANDMADE — as well as new exhibitors.

Retailers attending the winter 2018 show will also benefit from a new feature area, through a partnership with SURTEX a global B2B marketplace for sourcing original art and designs for products including home décor, tableware and giftware. The winter show will include a SURTEX Preview, showcasing approximately 15 artists offering original art and design for purchase or licensing.

The winter market will also offer a curated Shop ICFF area for luxury and boutique retailers to browse original creations and emerging designs. This area will showcase furniture, lighting, and accessories and about 50 participants.

Randi Mohr, show director, NY NOW, and vp/Emerald Expositions, discussed what retailers can expect at the next show, February 3 to 7, 2018.

HomeWorld Business: What are some of the differentiating elements of NY NOW, making it a destination for retailers?

Randi Mohr: NY NOW is the industry’s must-attend marketplace for retailers to discover amazing products for their stores. The market features unrivalled variety and breadth, with more than 2,300 exhibiting brands across three comprehensive collections, encompassing tens of thousands of products in hundreds of categories. In fact, many brands save the debut of their newest products just for NY NOW with nearly 70% of exhibitors launching new products exclusively at the market. Buyers truly can’t afford to miss NY NOW because they will miss out on products they will not see anywhere else.

HWB: What are some of the key things retailers need to know about NY NOW’s new partnership with SURTEX?

RM: In addition to buying for their stores, we know many of the retailers that attend NY NOW are also designers themselves, and while they may be searching for new products for their store shelves, they are also getting ideas and looking for ways to expand their own lines.

SURTEX is the leading marketplace to source original art and design for products ranging from home décor and tableware to apparel and giftware. The SURTEX Preview in February will present an intimate selection of approximately 15 artists and designers for NY NOW retailers and manufacturers to source original art and designs from to create their next best-selling or private label products. These artists and approximately 200 more will showcase their full range of original art at SURTEX, which will take place this coming May at the Javits Center.

HWB: What are some of the tabletop and housewares vendor resources that NY NOW offers?

RM: The Tabletop + Gourmet Housewares section at NY NOW presents a stunning and truly unique collection of resources to shop home entertaining, gourmet kitchenware and specialty tabletop. Buyers will be able to order hot ticket items from established exhibitors while also exploring new finds from emerging brands. Among the exhibitors in this incredible section are brands including Be Home, Cookut, Costa Nova, Georg Jensen, Kim Seybert, Laura Zindel Design, Mariposa, Nora Fleming, Nude Glass, Zwilling J.A. Henckels, Rosanna and Kiss That Frog.

HWB: Beyond the show floor, what buyer incentives does NY NOW offer?

RM: NY NOW offers a variety of educational seminars and exciting “Only in New York” events to help buyers make the most of their time in New York City at the market. NY NOW’s seminar program presents the opportunity for attendees to expand their knowledge in a comfortable setting. The seminar program will address topics including color and design trends, sustainability, and digital media and retail strategies— all created with the goal of helping attendees learn and advance their career or business. In the evening, NY NOW will once again host its popular “A Night On Broadway” event for attendees to take in a wonderful Broadway musical at a reduced rate.
