Toaster Tops Heat Up Walmart Entrepreneur Competition

Walmart has Toaster Tops ready for voting as it begins its Get on the Shelf competition for entrepreneurs. Toaster Tops is a lid that helps keep dirt and other unwanted debris out of appliance interiors, and consumers can vote for it as well as other Get on the Shelf products through September 2.

Walmart characterizes Get on the Shelf, as a social, crowdsourcing competition. The initiative emerged from @WalmartLabs to give entrepreneurs a chance to get noticed and sell their products on and potentially in select Walmart stores.  Entrepreneurs, business owners and inventors submitted entries through July 31 by sending a video featuring their product via a dedicated Walmart website for the competition.

While the contest has been open to a wide range of products, this year, Walmart expressed  special interest in seeing items that are made in the United States as the retailer follows through on its domestic sourcing commitment.
