Achilles cutlery, from German-based companies Sternsteiger Stahlwaren and UBUTT Designs, has made its debut on Kickstarter.
The Achilles knives are made entirely of stainless steel. The blade is is formed like a traditional, all-purpose chef’s knife, ideal for all kinds of chopping, slicing and dicing.
What sets Achilles apart from its competitors is its uniquely shaped handle, which is designed to give the best possible grip even if a user’s hands or the knife itself are wet, the companies said. The cutlery’s unique, ergonomic handles have a hole designed to provide balance and grip. The patented design allows for a secure and slip-free grip with optimal pressure distribution while cutting.
“In developing Achilles, we played around with several designs, talked with several professional chef’s and collected their feedback,” said Adnan Nazish, CEO, Sternsteiger. “The result was the idea of creating a knife completely out of metal, no wood or rough textures that allow bacteria to grow, with high durability and a very premium look and feel. The final design is one solid piece of durable stainless steel metal that, if treated well, will last you a lifetime.”
The Achilles collection includes an 8-inch nano-coated Western Chef’s knife, a 3.5-inch paring and 8-inch bread knife. The collection is available with a wooden knife block for storage.
