Amazon.com has extended its holiday shipping deadlines, permitting customers to order with free delivery up until December 19. Orders received by that date will arrive at their destinations before the Christmas holiday, the retailer announced.
Prime members can order by December 22 for pre-Christmas delivery, and, for the truly last-minute shoppers, customers in 12 major metro areas can order approximately a million eligible items as late as 10 a.m. on December 24 for same-day delivery, the retailer maintained.
Amazon.com is promoting the proposition that gift givers use its available listings of products shopped or wished for by Prime members in their holiday shopping. It also is emphasizing that shoppers can continue to find holiday discounts on a wide range of potential gifts at amazon.com/todaysdeals, the retailer noted.
In addition, Amazon.com is suggesting that gift givers can purchase Prime memberships for friends and family in the holiday. Besides fast, free shipping on more than 20 million items, when shoppers give Prime as a gift, they also provide a year of entertainment as membership includes unlimited streaming of movies and TV episodes with Prime Instant Video, and more than one million songs and hundreds of playlists with Prime Music. Prime members also can borrow from 600,000 books available through the Kindle Owners Lending Library, take advantage of unlimited photo storage with Prime Photos and gain early access to select lightning deals among other benefits, according to Amazon.com.
